© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma Thursday, July 16, 2009 William "Bill" Wade Cavel October 25, 1935 ~ July 27, 2009 Funeral services for William "Bill" Wade Cavel, 73, of Chickasha will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 30, 2009, in the Bible Baptist Church with Kim Hayes officiating. Bill was born on October 25, 1935, in St. Louis, Oklahoma, the son of Dick and Alma [Martin] Cavel. He died July 27, 2009, in Oklahoma City. In 1957, Bill married Billie DeKinder and this union blessed him with 2 children. He later married his wife of almost 24 years, Wynona [Benson] Cavel, on November 11, 1985, in Lake Tahoe, California. He had a love for the automobile. He was very active from an early age in restoring, as well as driving everything from go-carts to dragsters to classics. He loved music with his favorite artist of all time being Ray Price. He loved reading books on automobiles, history, trivia or anything that gave him knowledge. He was quite an inventor, creating all sorts of items large and small. He was an excellent business man, starting the original Gibson's Store in Altus, Oklahoma in the early 1960's and also the DAV stores in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. He worked as general manager for Circle H Trailer Manufacturing and he later started Cavel Manufacturing in Chickasha. He also loved and enjoyed his family, especially his grand children and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Chickasha Country Club where he was an avid golfer and had been a member of the First Baptist Church of Chickasha since 1985. Bill was preceded in death by both parents; an infant brother; and one son, William Kent Cavel in 1979. He leaves behind his wife, Wynona, of the home; one daughter, Jeannie Marie and one grandson, Kenton L. Smith, both of Chickasha; children: Chris and Dona Parrish and Mark Parrish, all of Pocasset; two brothers and sister-in-law: Eddie Joe Cavel, of Spring, Texas and Kale and Pauline Cavel, of Burleson, Texas; sister and brother-in-law: Ruth and Max Johnson, of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren: Clay and Holly Smith, Tori and John Breedlove, Kristen Parrish and Ryan Parrish; three great-grandchildren; and much extended family. He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his family and many friends. The casket will be open at the funeral home but will be closed at the service. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. |
