October 16, 1885 ~ June 12, 1958


Services for W. S. Carpenter will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Sevier's Chickasha Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Orval Carpenter officiating and Hartsell Johnson assisting.

He was a member of the 16th and Florida Church of Christ.

Other survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Melvin Webb and Mrs. B.F. Davis of Chickasha.

Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery.

Graveside services for Eva Ophelia Bridwell Carpenter, 103, of Chickasha, Okla., will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 15, 2002, at Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha.

Eva Ophelia Bridwell Carpenter was born February 27, 1899, and died on Tuesday, November 12, 2002.

Services are under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

James Edward Carpenter
April 14, 1914 ~ August 1, 1970


Funeral services for James Edward Carpenter, 56, 1425 Florida, were to be held in the chapel of the Sevier Funeral Home at 4 p.m. today. Carpenter died Saturday in Grady Memorial Hospital of a sudden heart attack. Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery with Rev. Raymond McDowell, pastor of College Heights Baptist Church, officiating.

Carpenter was born April 14, 1914, in Denver, Okla., and has resided in and around Chickasha most of his life. He lived in Fletcher from 1950 until 1961 when he returned to Chickasha to open the Fabric Outlet Shop. He retired and sold his business last January.

He was preceded in death in 1957 by a son, Donald Gene.

Survivors include his wife, Jean, of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Jimmie Love, Fletcher; two sons, Joe E. of Fletcher, and W. Stanley of Chickasha; a step-son, Dale Day of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Howard Carpenter and Mike Carpenter, both of Chickasha; two sisters, Mrs. Lela Davis and Mrs. Almeta Webb, both of Chickasha.

James Edward Carpenter

Funeral services for James Edward Carpenter were held at 4 p.m. Monday in the chapel of the Sevier Funeral Home with Rev. Raymond McDowell, pastor of College Heights Baptist Church, officiating. Interment was in the Fairlawn Cemetery.

Music was provided by Mrs. James Elston, soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Frieda Young, organist.

Pallbearers were Steward Kennedy, Jay Rowbarts, Ted Barber, Sam Dickey, Clark Pool, and Marvin Weaver.

Carpenter is survived by his wife, Jean, of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Jimmie Sue Love, Fletcher; two sons, Joe E. Carpenter, Fletcher, and W. Stanley Carpenter, Chickasha; one step-son, Dale Day, Oklahoma City; his mother, Mrs. Nora E. Carpenter, Chickasha; two brothers, Howard Carpenter and Mike Carpenter; two sisters, Mrs. Lela Davis and Mrs. Almeta Webb, all of Chickasha, and six grandchildren.

Howard Carpenter
October 18, 1923 ~ June 9, 1991


Funeral service for Howard Carpenter, 67, of Chickasha, Okla. will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 1991 in the Chapel of the Sevier Funeral Home in Chickasha.

He was born October 18, 1923 in Waurika, Okla. and died Sunday, June 9, 1991 in Oklahoma City.

Mr. Carpenter had been a barber for over 40 years, working in several shops in Chickasha. He owned and operated his own shop on 16th Street and in the Grandview Shopping Center. He worked at the Clipper Ship Barber Shop until he retired in 1990. He also worked as a toll booth attendant for the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority for 11 years, retiring in 1985.

He and Agnes Hill were married in Oklahoma City Sept. 14, 1947.

Mr. Carpenter served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and was a member of the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, W.S. and Nora [Daley] Carpenter and two brothers, James E. Carpenter and Carroll Mike Carpenter.

Survivors include his wife Agnes, of the home; two daughters - Brenda Horry of Chickasha and Judy Horstkoetter of Moore, Okla.; two sons; Howard W. Carpenter of Chickasha and Craig Carpenter; two sisters - Almeta Webb and Lela Davis, both of Chickasha; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Agnes [Hill] Carpenter
March 10, 1928 ~ May 22, 2005


Funeral service for Agnes Carpenter, 77, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesay, May 25, 2005 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home.

Agnes Carpenter was born March 10, 1928 in Harrah, Oklahoma the daughter of O.C. and Frances [Malaski] Hill and died May 22, 2005 in Chickasha.

She moved to Chickasha 56 years ago. Mrs. Carpenter worked as assistant city clerk and retired from Delta Faucet.

She and Howard Carpenter were married September 14, 1947 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death June of 1991.

Mrs. Carpenter was also preceded in death by her parents, father, O.C. Hill in 1984 and mother, Frances Hill in 1998; and great grandson: Kyle Massey July 2003.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Vic Horstkoetter of Moore, Oklahoma, and Brenda and Gary Waddell of Chickasha, Oklahoma; one son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Debbie Carpenter of Chickasha; nine grandchildren, Crystal Massey and husband Jeff of Oklahomas City, Dustin Horstkoetter and wife Laura of Oklahoma City, Misty Crawford and husband Shane of Moore, Oklahoma, Sara Mitchell and husband Rusty of Chickasha, Joshua Carpenter of Chickasha, Jessica Carpenter of Chickasha, Jeff Hadnot and wife Jinan of Chula Vista, California, Jenny Venter and husband Willem of Las Vegas, Nevada, Gary Waddell of Bangkok, Thailand; 13 great grandchildren; special sister-in-law, Lela Davis; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
