© The Chickasha Daily Express Chickasha, Oklahoma April 23, 1982 page 1, col 8 Jerry Glenn Byrd November 29, 1954 ~ April 23, 1982 RUSH SPRINGS ACCIDENT CLAIMS CHICKASHA MAN A pickup truck collided headon with a semi-trailer rig on a Grady County road early today killing the driver of the pickup, the highway patrol said. Troopers said Jerry Glenn Byrd, 27, of Chickasha was dead on arrival at a Chickasha hospital after the 12:30 a.m. wreck which occurred near Rush Springs. Byrd's pickup apparently drifted into the oncoming land, troopers said. The victim was thrown 79 feet from his vehicle. © The Chickasha Daily Express Chickasha, Oklahoma April 25, 1982 page 16, col 1 Jerry Glenn Byrd November 29, 1954 ~ April 23, 1982 JERRY GLENN "ROCKY" BYRD Funeral for Jerry Glenn "Rocky" Byrd, 27, 100 Riviera, Chickasha will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 26, 1982 in the Brown-Binyon Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gene Wilson, pastor of First Bible Baptist Church officiating. Mr. Byrd was born November 29, 1954 in Clinton, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin [Ann O'Sullivan] Byrd. He died Friday, April 23, 1982 in Grady Memorial Hospital. He came to Chickasha in 1973 from Del City. He had attended Southeast High School, graduating in 1972, and Oscar Rose Junior College and the University of Oklahoma. Mr. Byrd had worked for the Big Chief Drilling Company for the past 15 months and attended the Bible Baptist Church. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Byrd of Chickasha; two sons, James Byrd and Bryan Byrd of Rush Springs; one brother, Mike Byrd of Oklahoma City; one sister, Brenda Underwood of Los Angeles, Calif.; his grandmother, Annie O'Sullivan of Chickasha; and his grandfather, John Clarence Byrd of Clinton. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery. |
