© The Chickasha Daily Express Chickasha, Oklahoma June 3, 1979 page 16, col 4 Elmo Byrd June 1, 1919 ~ May 31, 1979 ELDER ELMO BYRD Funeral for Elder Elmo Byrd, 50, 210 West Dakota, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday June 4, in the Shepherd Street Christian Church with Elder James Rich officiating. Elder Byrd was born June 1, 1919 in Holdenville. He died Thursday, May 31 in his home after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Ernest Byrd, three brothers and three sisters. Elder Byrd became a minister on Aug 7, 1971 in the Grace Full Gospel Pentecostal Church. He was employed at Chickasha High School at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, Edna Byrd, of the home; three daughters, Nicky Byrd of the home, Mrs. Carolyn Rodgers and Mrs. Patsy Simpson, both of Dallas, Texas; one son, Marshall Byrd of Ft. Eustis, Va.; four sisters, Mrs. Retha Campbell of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Ethel Starts of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Lillian Everly of Oklahoma City and Mrs. Lena M. Johnson of Chickasha; two brothers, Ernest Byrd, Jr. of Chickasha and Leonard Byrd of Ft. Riley, Kan., 11 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Internment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Christian Funeral Home. |
