Brummell was born August 16, 1930, in Gracemont, Okla., and died on Wednesday, November 12, 2003, in Chickasha. Brummell August 16, 1930 ~ November 12, 2003 Funeral Services for Leldon V. Brummell, 73, of Chickasha, will be held Saturday, November 15, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. in the Epworth United Methodist Church in Chickasha. Leldon V. Brummell was born August 16, 1930, in Gracemont, to William Virdo Brummell and Mattie Lois [Stevens] Brummell. He died November 12, 2003, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Leldon attended Verden and Pocasset schools and graduated from Pocasset High School in 1950. He joined the United States Army and spent a year in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He received a medal of commendation and was honorably discharged as sergeant. On April 27, 1951, Leldon married his wife of 52 years, Joan Smedley in Chickasha, Oklahoma. After serving in the military Leldon moved to Oklahoma City where he was employed by Miller-Jackson Wholesale Hardware Company. Leldon joined the B. F. Goodrich Company in 1959, working as a retail manager in several locations including Winfield, Kansas, Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and Chickasha, Oklahoma. Leldon purchased the B. F. Goodrich dealership in Chickasha in 1973 and retired in 1987. Leldon had been an active member of the Epworth United Methodist Church in Chickasha for over thirty years. He was preceded in death by parents, two brothers, Preston and Cecil Brummell, and one sister, Mildred Shook. Survivors include his wife Joan of the home; two sons: Phillip and wife Kelly Brummell, of El Reno, OK. and Steven Brummell, of Boley, OK; one daughter, Lisa Ketchup and husband Tim, of Chickasha; and two sisters: Audrey Fay Rackley, of Gracemont, OK, and Romelda Martin of Oklahoma City, OK. Leldon was also a loving grandfather of eleven, including: Brandon, Kevin, Jackson, Jane, and Sam Brummell; Kristen and Ryan Parrish, Kate and Dylan Ketchup; Alexa Stephens and Thomas Lair. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. |
