© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma December 20, 1989 John R. Bowens April 11, 1921 ~ December 18, 1989 Funeral for John R. Bowens, 68, 1422 S. Second Street, Chickasha, will be held at 1 pm Friday, December 22, 1989 in Shepherd Street Christian Church with Rev. M. L. Morgan, pastor, officiating. He was born April 11, 1921, in Verden and died December 18, 1989, in Chickasha. He lived in San Francisco, calif., from 1943 until 1982. He spent the remaining years of his life in Chickasha. He was a certified welder. Mr. Bowens attended Lincoln High School where he played football for the Lincoln Lions. John joined Shepherd Street Christian Church in March of 1932 where he was a faithful member until he moved to California. Survivors include one son, William James Bowens of Flint, Mich.; three daughters, Brenda Joice Bowens of Denver, Colo., Johnetta Bowens of Flint, Mich., Edwana K. Keys of Denver, Colo.; two brothers, James Bowens of Flint, Mich., Benjamin B. Bowens of Chickasha; two sisters, Mary Carter and Irene Allen, both of Chickasha; two aunts, Willie Maw Miller of Fresno, Calif., and Nola Mosley of Chickasha; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Christian Funeral Home. |
