February 1961 June 22, 1906 ~ February 5, 1961 Leonard was born south east of Verden and was the youngest of ten children. Most of he and his siblings farmed around Verden for a number of years. Leonard met Willie Myers, who was from the Cougar community, and were married in 1925. To this union were born four boys, Perry, Frank, Kenneth, and Johnny; four girls, Rose, Jane, Connie, and Charlette. They all attended school at Pioneer, Sandlin, and Verden. Three sons live near Verden and raise cattle and hay. Two of these, Kenneth and Johnny, still live on the Bond home place the family has owned for nearly 103 years. |
© The Chickasha Express-Star Wednesday, 18 January 2006 Thursday, 19 January 2006 Chickasha, Oklahoma Willie May [Myers] Bonds May 19, 1908 ~ January 15, 2006 Funeral service for Willie May Myers Bonds, 97, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, January 19, 2006 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home. Willie May Bonds [Mrs. Leonard R. Bonds] was born May 19, 1908 in Whitney, Texas the daughter of Joel Henry and Nora [Ashworth] Myers and died January 15, 2006 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Mrs. Bonds moved to Minco at an early age. She lived in Cogar where her parents farmed. She and Leonard Russell Bonds were married June 13, 1925 in Chickasha. They farmed west of Chickasha. He preceded her in death in 1961. Mrs. Bonds was also preceded in death by: 1 daughter: Fay Marie Bonds in 1928; son-in-law: Joe Hill; parents, 4 brothers and 1 sister. Survivors include: 3 daughters: Rose Lee Hill of Chickasha, Jane Pearcy and husband Robert H. of Chickasha, Charlette May Slawson and husband Merle of Norman; 4 sons: Russell Perry Bonds and wife Mary of Verden, Frank Bonds and wife Joyce of Minco, Kenneth Don Bonds of Chickasha, Johnny Roy Bonds of Chickasha; 1 sister: Violet Bonds of Moore; 1 brother Virgil Myers of Auburn, Massachusetts; 11 grandchldren; 21 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. |
