Janis Annette [Tims] Bond
February 12, 1959 ~ August 16, 2001

Janis Annette Tims Bond was born February 12, 1959, in Chickasha, to A. C. and LaVerne Tims. Her life and the lives of her daughter and youngest son were taken in a violent invasion of their home on August 16, 2001. She lived in Chickasha all her life and graduated from Chickasha High School in 1977 and was married to Phillip Bond on October 20, 1977. Janis had four children: Dustin, Gareth, Meagan, and Nathan.

Janis devoted her life to her family, church, community, and her career in daycare and child development. She had become a mainstay to The Chickasha Community Theatre as a costume designer, photographer, caterer, and wherever she was needed. Janis had worked in childcare for 26 years in Chickasha, and was the owner of The Bee Hive.

Janis was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by two sons, Dustin Bond and Gareth Bond of Chickasha, sister Kathy Brady of Mustang, and two brothers Howard Tims and Gary Tims of Chickasha. She is also survived by two nephews Tony Koehler, III and Tim Koehler both of Chickasha, two nieces Joanie McDonald of Chickasha, and Erin Koehler of Oklahoma City. Janis will leave behind a host of relatives and close and intimate friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, Aug. 21 at First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Larry Hatfield officiating.

Note:

"The 43-year-old truck driver slipped into his family's Tudor-style rural estate after midnight - where he had been banned by a victim protective order - and strangled his daughter, Meagan, 16, in her bed. He slashed the throat of his son, Nathan, 12, then headed for his wife in their bedroom.

Medical examiners said the children died quickly, but not their mother.

Bond beat Janis Bond, 42, so badly her body had to be put in a plastic bag for the casket.

He then washed the blood off himself, undressed, climbed under the covers of their bed and shot himself in the chest."

Meagan Elizabeth Bond
October 30, 1984 ~ August 16, 2001

Meagan Elizabeth Bond was tragically taken from us on Thursday, August, 2001. During her short life, she made lasting and loving friends and left us with memories to treasure.

Meagan was born October 30, 1984 in Oklahoma City, to Janis and Phillip Bond. She lived her entire life in and around Chickasha and attended Chickasha Public Schools, where she would have been a Junior this year. The family attended the Assembly of God Church. Meagan's love of music and singing began as a toddler. She had a naturally beautiful singing voice which she had used primarily in church. In the past six years Meagan performed in several Chickasha Community Theatre productions, as well as spending endless hours helping backstage and assisting her mother with costumes. Meagan had recently expressed a desire to pursue her singing as a possible career.

Meagan had many friends at school, on her job at Eduardo's and through the community. She was enrolled in vocational childcare classes and planned to work after school at The Bee Hive Child Development Center, owned by her mother.

Meagan is survived by her two brothers Dustin Bond and Gareth Bond both of Chickasha, uncles Howard Tims and Gary Tims both of Chickasha, and aunts Kathy Brady of Mustang and Mary Sue Wren, Texas; also first cousins Tony Koehler, III, Tim Koehler, and Joanie McDonald all of Chickasha, and Erin Koehler of Oklahoma City. There are a host of family members and friends too numerous to name who loved Meagan and will miss her.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 21, 2001 at First Assembly of God with Rev. Larry Hatfield officiating.

Nathaniel Coleman "Nathan" Bond
July 12, 1989 ~ August 16, 2001

Nathaniel "Nathan" Coleman Bond was tragically taken from us on Thursday, August 16, 2001. Nathan's sweet and loving nature endeared him to all that knew him.

Nathan was born July 12, 1989 in Oklahoma City, to Janis and Phillip Bond. He lived his entire life in and around Chickasha and attended Chickasha Public Schools. The family attended the Assembly of God Church. Nathan began performing with The Chickasha Community Theatre at the age of five and appeared in several productions. His uncle, Gary Tims, was Nathan's inspiration to become involved with the theatre, and continually encouraged him in his endeavors.

Nathan's talents were also evident on the soccer field, as he was a relentless defensive player. He attended football camp this summer to prepare for the Seventh Grade football team's upcoming season.

Nathan had many friends at school and throughout the community. He was a great help to his mother at The Bee Hive Child Development Center, where he accompanied the younger groups of children on field trips. The children loved him, as did all the employees.

Nathan is survived by his two brothers Dustin Bond and Gareth Bond both of Chickasha, uncles Howard Tims and Gary Tims both of Chickasha, and aunts Kathy Brady of Mustang and Mary Sue Wren of Texas; also first cousins Tony Koehler, III, Tim Koehler, and Joanie McDonald all of Chickasha, and Erin Koehler of Oklahoma City. There are a host of family members and friends too numerous to name who loved Nathan and will miss him.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 21, 2001 at First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Larry Hatfield officiating.
