Barton, 75, of Chickasha, will be held, Tuesday, October 5, 2004, at 10:30 a.m., in the Fairlawn Cemetery, with Esten Leonard officiating. Josephine I. Barton was born January 22, 1929, in Ferris, Texas, the daughter of Robert Sevier and Joda Ray Hicks Sevier. She died Friday, October 1, 2004, in Chickasha. Josephine grew up in Coalgate, Oklahoma. She attended Coalgate public schools. Josephine married Jessy Vernon Barton on November 11, 1948, in Texarkana, Arkansas. They made their home in California, living there for 35 years. In 1972 they returned to Oklahoma, living in Duncan. In 1982 Josephine moved to Chickasha. She was a full-time homemaker while her children were at home, then later, she started working as a home health caregiver. She retired in 1998. Josephine enjoyed crocheting, and she was an avid reader, and gardener. She is preceded in death by both parents, and her husband, vernon Barton. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Barbara Barton, of Clearlake, California, Richard and Sherry Barton, of Waxahachie, Texas; three daughters and son~in~law, Jean and Don Daugherty, of Chickasha, Jane Barton, of Kelseyville, California, Sue Thomas, of Chickasha; 17 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. |
