Anderson, 92, of Alex, Oklahoma will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at the Alex High School Auditorium. George Anderson was born February 22, 1917 in Hobart, Oklahoma the son of W.D. and Grace [Underwood] Anderson. He died May 21, 2009 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. George moved to Grady County with his family in a covered wagon. He graduated from Meridian High School and attended Central State University in Edmond. George served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He farmed with his brother, Charlie, in the Alex area for over 60 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Alex and was a member of the Alex United Methodist Church. George was a beloved uncle who loved to tell stories and jokes and pass along his words of wisdom. He was preceded in death by: Parents; Brother and sister-in-law: Charlie and Nadine Anderson; Brother: J.D. Anderson; Niece: Joy Charlene Anderson; Nephew: Charles L. Anderson, Jr. Survivors include: Nieces and nephews: Gayle and Bob Sayre of Memphis, TN, Phyllis Goyne of Alex, Park and Beth Anderson of Alex; Great nieces and nephews: Dee Tarode and son of Memphis, TN; Betsy and Randy Wolgemuth and family of Lancaster, PA; Mark and Carrie Anderson and family of Alex, Tracy and Shannon Goyne and family of Alex; Kristen and Jeff Clark and son of Newcastle; Stacie Goyne of Ft. Worth, TX; Nicole and Nate Bauman and son of Alex Courtney and Shamar Green and Daughter of Killeen, TX; Hailey Anderson and daughter of Alex. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. |
