Mattie Wilma [Locke] Peery
September 28, 1915 ~ November 29, 2014


Wilma Locke Peery, a longtime Lookeba Sickles School Teacher now of Minco, OK, passed away on November 29, 2014 with her family by her side at the age of 99.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, Minco, OK. Rev. Vera Walton will officiate.

Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Minco, OK. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Minco. Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK.

Wilma was born on September 28, 1915 in Tuttle, Oklahoma to the late Barney and Cynthia [Wood] Locke.

She grew up in Minco graduating from Minco High School in 1934. Wilma attended college at University of Science and Arts formerly O.C.W. receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, then her Master's Degree in Special Education from the University of Oklahoma.

Wilma married the love of her life Harold Peery in 1938; to this union Roger and Cindy were born.

Both she and Harold were teachers at Lookeba Sickles where she was a teacher for 32 years. After retiring, she moved to Minco. Wilma was a member of the O.E.A. and the N.E.A. Teachers Association. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Minco.

She enjoyed playing cards, eating hot rolls and cinnamon rolls, gardening and raising beautiful flowers. Wilma was an avid reader, especially her bible. After moving to assisted living, she regularly won the Bible and Geography Trivia contest. She loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son Roger Peery and wife Sherry of Tuttle, daughter Cindy Peery Reese of Allen, Texas, grandchildren Monica Walls and husband Keith, Daphne Lashbrook and husband Scott, Gentry Peery and wife Jamie, Carlos Perez husband of Sara Reese Perez and fourteen great grandchildren. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold Peery, granddaughter Sarah Reese Perez, great grandson Gabriel Reese, four brothers and three sisters.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Wilma's name to the American Heart Association.
