Fred William "Bill" McCathern
May 12,1923 ~ January 6, 2006


Fred William "Bill" McCathern, age 82, died Friday January 6, 2006 at his home in Mustang after a time of failing health. He was born May 12, 1923 in Edmond, OK to Arnold and Grace [Hawley] McCathern and grew up in Caddo County.

Bill served his country proudly during WWII in the US Army.

After service he returned to Gracemont, later moving to OKC and in 1956 moved to Mustang where he has lived until his death.

He was a farmer, truck driver and small businessman. He was a Mason and Shriner.

Preceded in death by his wife Ruby [Williams] McCathern, parents, three brothers Gene, Raymond, Bobby, three sisters Irene, Ruby and Frances, he is survived by a large loving family. They include six children, Reba Simpson of Del City, Elaine Neher and husband Sam of Newalla, Roger McCathern of Newalla, David McCathern and wife Debbie of Mustang, Rita Valencia and husband Mike of OKC, Sandy Charles of Bridgecreek, eighteen grandchildren and thirty three great grandchildren. Also by two brothers Jerry McCathern of Minco, Paul McCathern of Seagoville, TX, three sisters Louise Wyrick of Garland, TX, Laverna Grockett of Campbell, TX and Linda Cauley of Magnolia, TX.

Services will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, January 10, 2006 in the Chapel of The Good Shepherd at McNeil's Mustang Funeral Service with interment following at Evergreen Cemetery, Minco, OK.
