© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma April 14 & 15, 2009 February 24,1911 ~ April 10, 2009 Funeral service for Martha Glenilis [Hardy] Brown, 98, of Pocasset, Oklahoma will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at the First Missionary Baptist Church of Pocasset. Martha Glenilis Brown was born February 24,1911, at Haley Switch [between Amber and Tuttle and now known as Sooner]. She was the oldest of ten children born to Afa and Dora Hardy. On Good Friday, April 10, 2009, she left a full and rewarding life on earth to be eternally with her Lord and Savior and her beloved family and friends who preceded her in death. She attended grade school at Harold, started high school at Amber and finished the last three years at Minco, riding a horse most of the time from her home east of Harold school. Graduating from high school at age 16, she borrowed money from a bank in Chickasha and went to Central State in Edmond acquiring a teaching certificate and went back to Harold at age eighteen, where she taught for five years. On December 24, 1933, she married Lawrence J. Brown at her parent's home near Harold. They lived in Minco a few months then moved to Chickasha for a few years then back to Minco having purchased a produce business there. They sold this business and moved to the farm east of Pocasset in December, 1943 where Glenilis lived until 2006. Glenilis was a busy mother and farm wife but always found time to work for the Lord being very active in church both in her local church and at the county level. She worked many years with girls and ladies church activities and taught Sunday School into her 90th year. She was always concerned for others and did what she could to be of help to all in need. Glenilis was preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings, her husband Lawrence and son Troy Dean. She is survived by four sons: Roy Lee and wife Sue of Norman, Larry and wife Annetta of Norman, Glen and wife Patti of Dallas, Gerald and wife Judy of Yukon; eleven grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; two brothers, Bob of Duncan and Lloyd of Moore. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Minco, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. Donations may be made to: Oklahoma Baptist Homes For Children, Inc. 3800 N.
