O. Gail Poole
September 30, 1935 ~ April 13, 2013

O. Gail Poole passed away at his home in Norman on April 13, 2013, with his family close at hand. He was a prominent Oklahoma artist.

Poole was born in Marlow, OK in 1935 son of Woodrow Poole and Hazel Patterson.

A graduate of Bradley High School, he received a BFA in Art from the University of Oklahoma, where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon.

He also served as an Officer in the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Hood, TX.

Poole is survived by four children: Nicole Poole, of NYC; Terry Wise, of Novato, CA; Diane Zueger, of Seattle; and Kerri Decker, of Branchville, NJ.

He is also survived by four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Finally, Poole's ex-wife and great friend, Doris, stayed by his side to care for him during his final weeks.

Services for family and close friends will be held at high noon Saturday, 4/27 at the Bradley, OK Cemetery.

A public celebration of Poole's life and work will be held Thursday, 5/2, 4-8 p.m. at MainSite Gallery in Norman.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that guests consider a tax-deductible donation to the Poole Memorial Travel Fund, administered by the Norman Arts Council, allowing artists of great merit the freedom and opportunity of travel, which Poole so adored.
