July 2019 September 2, 1925 ~ July 15, 2019 Heaven got even happier on Monday, July 15th, as Marie arrived to join a glorious reunion already in progress, including the love of her life, Sam Nye; her parents, Frank and Jessie McCully; her beloved brothers, Lee Garner, James McCully, Harley McCully, and Charles McCully; great grandson Richard Davis, and a host of extended family and friends who had gone before her. Jessie Marie McCully was born September 2, 1925. She grew up on a farm in the Lindsay, Oklahoma area with brothers who adored her and protected her. She accepted Jesus as her savior and was baptized when she was sixteen years old. At the age of eighteen she and her best friend, Goldie, had the adventure of moving to Norman, Oklahoma and working at the Naval Base. Two of her brothers were then serving in the Navy and another in the Army. Not long after returning to Lindsay, she met Sam Nye from Bradley, Oklahoma who had just returned from the military. Marie McCully and Sam Nye were married on May 25th, 1945. They owned a farm south of Bradley where their children, Sammy and Mary, grew up. Marie loved farm life. As well as assisting with farm work, she was an excellent seamstress and cook. She and Sam planted and harvested large gardens. She always had canned and frozen fruit, vegetables, jams, and jellies to share with friends and family. Sam, Marie, Sammy and Mary were part of the church family at First Baptist Church, Bradley. In 1965, Sam and Marie purchased a farm in the Story community north of Maysville. They attended Story Baptist Church and had many dear friends in the Story community. The loved couple always had a great farm home for grandchildren and other family members to visit. After Sam’s death in 1985, Marie continued living on the farm providing that experience for her grandchildren for many years. In 1997 she moved to Lindsay where she enjoyed contact with people she had grown up with and also people from each community where she had lived-----Bradley and Story. Marie most recently resided at Shanoan Springs Residence in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Our family would especially like to thank their staff who cared for her so lovingly. Marie is lovingly missed by those still here: her son, Sammy Nye and wife Marjann of Rush Springs, OK; daughter, Mary Trotter and husband, Jimmy of Tuttle, OK; Grandchildren: Carrie Miller, Sam Nye, Alena Nye, Toby Trotter and wife Cari, and Mandy Trotter. Her great grandchildren are Cade Trotter, Ainsley Trotter, and Shelby Trotter. Her memory will also remain in the hearts of a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Her legacy of love will endure for generations to come. A celebration service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 18th, 2019 at First Baptist Church, Bradley, OK with Bro. Bruce Christian officiating. Burial will be in the Bradley Cemetery under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.
