© Alex Tribune Alex, Oklahoma Thursday, August 14, 1941 James Daniel Mackey September 5, 1860 ~ August 10, 1941 James Daniel Mackey Passes On Sunday Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Baptist church for James Daniel Mackey, pioneer farmer of Hawkins, who passed on at a Chickasha hospital early Sunday morning. He was 81 years of age. Mr. Mackey was born in the state of Alabama September 5, 1860, and accompanied his parents to Collins County, Texas, six years later. Here he grew to young manhood, and met and married Mary Ellen Ryker, who passed on late in 1934. The family had resided for the past fifty years and in this community since statehood. Mr. Mackey had been in failing health for the past five years and had been a hospital patient for about a week. He leaves to mourn his passing Mrs. Alice Lievsay of Chickasha, Mrs. Lenora Williams of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Anna Richardson of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Edna Blansit of Clinton, Mrs. Maggie Horne of Alex, the daughters, and one son, Loren Mackey, of Alex. Burial was in the Bradley cemetery. |
