May 30, 1909 ~ November 2, 1970


Funeral services for Leroy Goyne, 61, Alex, who died Monday in Grady Memorial Hospital as the result of a heart attack that occurred September 23, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the First Baptist Church, Alex, with Rev. Charles Hall, pastor, officiating.

Music was by Mrs. Anna Gage, Mrs. Mona Hall, Mrs. Peggy Gosnell, Jack Bryant, Frank Hess, and Mrs. Letty Burch, accompanied by Mrs. Edith Rayburn and Mrs. Peggy Brand.

Active pallbearers, Glen Williams, Charlie Anderson, Dial Baker, Cleon Newberry, Troy Cecil and Ueal Gay. Honorary pallbearers, Bill Anderson, R. E. Ramsey, R. L. Brand, Joe White, Garlin Truel, W. R. Blakely, C. A. Rayburn and C. W. O'Rear.

State Highway Department employes were seated in an honorary group.

Mr. Goyne was born May 30, 1909, near Alex. He had lived in Ada and Alex area all his life.

He had served as deputy sheriff under former Sheriff Emmitt Watson for four years. Prior to that time he was in the oilfield business for 15 years. For the past five years Mr. Goyne had been employed with the Oklahoma Highway Department.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Alex. Survivors include his wife, Bessie Lee, of the home; two sons, Gailon Leroy Goyne of Alex and Jerry Ross Goyne of Amarillo, Texas.

Bessie Lee [Foster] Goyne
June 11, 1913 ~ 1974


Funeral service for Mrs. Bessie Lee Goyne, 61, Alex, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the First Baptist Church in Alex.

Mrs. Goyne was born June 11, 1913, in Alex. She died Wednesday in a Chickasha nursing home.

Mrs. Goyne had been in failing health for two years.

She had lived in Alex all of her life.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Alex.

Her husband, Leroy Goyne, preceded her in death on November 2, 1970.

She is survived by two sons, Gailon Goyne, of Alex, and Jerry Roos Goyne of Amarillo, Texas; three granddaughters and one grandson.

Interment will be in the Bradley Cemetery under the direction of the Sevier Funeral Home.

Jerry Ross Goyne, 72, of Amarillo died Saturday, March 2, 2013.



Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Second Baptist Church. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Bradley Cemetery in Bradley, Okla. Arrangements are by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St.

Jerry was born October 7, 1940, in Chickasha, Okla., to LeRoy and Bessie Lee Gayne.

He was raised in Alex, Okla., where he played football and went to state his senior year. Jerry worked construction, was a manager for Levi Strauss and retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

He enjoyed playing golf, pool, fishing and taking trips in an RV. He was a past Sunday school teacher at East Amarillo Missionary Baptist Church. While working at Levi Strauss he coached and played softball.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gailon Goyne.

Survivors include his wife, Gwen of Amarillo; his daughters, Karla Butler and husband Mark of Turkey, Kellie Draper of Lexington, Neb., Kim Allen and husband Babe of Amarillo and their mother, Linda Ray of Childress; two stepdaughters, Diane Hall and husband David of Boynton, Okla., and Jimi Hudson and husband David of Amarillo; a stepson, Michael Hackler and wife Mary of Wellington, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and family pet, Pepper.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Interim Hospice for the care they gave Jerry.
