© Alex Tribune Alex, Oklahoma Friday, April 9, 1937 Mattie Elnora [Davidson] Blakeley December 9, 1890 ~ April 5, 1937 Mrs. Walter Blakely Succumbs to Illness Mrs. Walter Blakely died Monday morning at a Chickasha hospital where she had been a patient for a few days. Mrs. Blakely had not been in good health for several weeks but it was not until Saturday morning that her condition seemed to warrant removal to a hospital. She was a devout member of the Missionary Baptist Church, becoming affiliated in 1913. She was ever ready to lend a hand in sickness and in need, and was a loving wife and mother and a kind neighbor. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Alex Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. J. H. Beardon conducting the services. Interment was in the Bradley cemetery Thursday morning, the son not arriving from his home in California until Wednesday. Mattie Davidson Blakely was born January 8, 1891. She was married to Walter R. Blakely on October 10, 1907, and to this union was born four children. She leaves the husband, one son, Alfred; three daughters, Carrie, Verla Mae and Mary; three brothers, Elmer Davidson of Allen, Douglas Davidson of Plain Oak, and Clarence Davidson residing in California. She also leaves two uncles, W. Finley of Dallas, and H. S. Finley of Duncan. |
