Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at the Bailey Cemetery, with Rev. Alvin Miller officiating. Services are under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow. Cookie was born Thursday, February 13, 1941 in Marlow, to Everett and Essie [Preston] Mayes. He attended school in Bray. He lived in the Rush Springs area all of his life. Cookie married Seretta Lang on January 19, 1959 in Marlow. He retired after 17 years as the owner of a gas station. Cookie enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, riding the tractors and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include, Wife, Seretta Mayes of the home; 2 Sons, Rusty Mayes & wife Donna of Bray, OK, David Mayes & wife Martha of Oklahoma City, OK; Daughter, Teresa Baxter & husband Kris of Davis, OK; 7 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren, Brother, F.A. Smith of Marlow, OK; Sister, Rita Boatman & husband Harvey of Duncan, OK; Several Nieces & Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Olen Mayes and Lee Roy Mayes. |
