© February 2013 May 6, 1937 ~ February 11, 2013 Funeral service for Roy Luther "Speedy" Reed, age 75 of Verden, OK, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013 in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Larry Hatfield will officiate. Roy Luther was born the son of Luther Reed and Gertrude Johnson Reed on May 6, 1937, in Amber,OK. He died on Feb. 11, 2013, at his home near Verden. Roy graduated from Meridian High School north of Chickasha. He later entered the United States Army and served from 1959 to 1962. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Chickasha and began working for Sunoco Oil Company as a truck driver. In 1993, he retired due to his health. During his life, he also worked at other jobs. He loved to cook on his smoker and socialize with friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Gertrude Reed, and sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Leon Seebeck. Survivors include his daughter and husband, Brenda and Brandan Bickerstaff of Chickasha; son and wife, Kevin and Michelle Reed of Tuttle; grandchildren, Ericka and John Craig of Chickasha, Sharene and Ronnie Burns of Ninnekah, Kyra Reed of Tuttle, Brayden Reed of Tuttle, Cameron Bickerstaff of Chickasha, Jessica Brown of Waldron, Arkansas; great grandchildren, Haley, Taycee, Braylee and Gracie; niece, Donna Hill of Newalla; nephew, Gary and Karen Seebeck of Chickasha. Interment will be in the Amber Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home, Chickahsa. |
