© The Chickasha Daily Express Chickasha, Oklahoma Tuesday, September 26, 1944 September 9, 1872 ~ September 26, 1944 Joe Nunn Dies At Noon Today Joe Nunn, 72, of Chickasha, Route 3, died about noon today in a local hospital, which he had entered Friday. He had been in failing health for some time. Mr. Nunn, had been farming for years. Funeral arrangements are being made by Chickasha funeral home. © The Chickasha Daily Express Chickasha, Oklahoma Tuesday, September 27, 1944 September 9, 1872 ~ September 26, 1944 Nunn Funeral Service Set Thursday Afternoon Funeral services for Joe Thomas Nunn, 72, who died Tuesday in a local hospital, will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon in the chapel of the Chickasha Funeral home with Rev. Kenneth Garrison, pastor of the First Christian Church, officiating. Mr. Nunn was born September 9, 1872, at Cumberland, Ky., and later moved to Decatur, Texas, where he was a range rider and a cattle puncher. After moving to Chickasha he was engaged in farming until a few years ago when he was forced to retire because of ill health. Mr. Nunn had been a resident of Chickasha for the past 52 years. He was a member of the Christian church. He married Jessie Payne, daughter of Mashack and Margaret Payne of Amber, on January 16, 1901, in Chickasha. Mr. Nunn is survived by his wife, Jessie; one brother, Hillrey Nunn, Texas; and a half-sister, Mrs. Julia Fletcher, Kansas City, Mo. Interment will be in the Amber cemetery. |

NUNN Funeral services for Mrs. Jessie Nunn of Amber will be at 4 pm Friday in Sevier's Chickasha Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. I. E. Ward officiating. Mrs. Nunn, 78, died at 8 am today in a local hospital. She suffered a stroke April 8 and had been hospitalized since. She was born August 16, 1880, in Clements, Kansas, she came to Grady County with her parents, Mashack and Margaret Payne, in 1889 from Kansas and settled north of Chickasha. She married Joe Nunn on January 16, 1901, in Chickasha. They had farmed and were early cattle raisers. He preceded her in death in 1944. Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Effie Barger and Mrs. Etta Cox of Amber. Interment will be in Amber cemetery. |
