J. R. Martin
October 31, 1925 ~ March 8, 2007


Funeral service for J.R. Martin, 81, of Amber, Oklahoma will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at the First Assembly of God Church, Chickasha.

J.R. Martin was born October 31, 1925 in Amber, Oklahoma, the son of Walter and Dottie Martin. He died on Thursday, March 8, 2007 in Norman.

J.R. worked and resided all of his life on the Martin Family Ranch in Amber. J.R. married J. Pauline [Pug] Wampler on May 24, 1944.

J.R. was very active within the Amber and Chickasha Community. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. He was an active member of the Chickasha Rotary Club, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow. For over 35 years he served as a Director of the First National Bank of Chickasha. Also he was a member of the Amber School Board for 12 years. He was also a member of the Flying Farmers.

He was preceded in death by: His parents: Walter and Dottie Martin; one brother: James Martin.

Survivors include: His wife: J. Pauline [Pug] Martin of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law: Jim and Melinda Martin of Amber; Rick and Karen Martin of Amber; Granddaughters: Jamie Martin Caves and husband Matthew of Chickasha; Amy Martin of Oklahoma City; Keli Martin Elliott and husband Brad of Oklahoma City; Great-grandsons: Jackson Martin Caves, Karter James Caves and Logan Tyler Elliott.

Interment will be in the Amber Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
