September 2012 March 26, 1954 ~ September 13, 2012 Funeral Services for Vernon Lee Jones, 58, of Amber, will be held Monday, September 17, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Amber Mission Church, with Delbert Taylor officiating. Vernon Lee Jones was born March 26, 1954, in Agawam, Oklahoma the son of Charlie E. Jones and Lillie Mae McConnell. He died Thursday, September 13, 2012, in Amber, Oklahoma. Vernon attended and graduated from Amber-Pocasset High School in 1972. He married Rebecca Sue Holley in Amber, Oklahoma on June 1, 1972, and from this union his two sons, Jay Vernon and Lee Matthew were born. Vernon was employed at Bittercreek Farms, and then went to work for Unit Parts, then on to Maremont and then worked in the oil field until he started his own roofing company and became a Contract Roofer. Vernon loved his wife and sons and spending time with his grandkids, Luke, Evee, Jared, Kale, and Ari. He was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his wife, Rebecca of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jay and Erin Jones of Verdigris, Oklahoma and their children, Evee and Ari Jones, and Lee and Jennifer Jones of Shattuck, Oklahoma and their children, Luke, Jared and Kale Jones; mother, Lillie Mae Jones of Amber; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Charlie Jr. and Linda Jones of Rosepine, Louisiana, Mike Jones of Chickasha, and Paul Jones of Amber; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Darlene and Charles Brantley of Pocasset, Elaine and Mike Brantley of Chickasha, and Deana and Delbert Taylor of Cole, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews. Interment will be in the Amber Cemetery. |
