January 2012 April 17, 1930 ~ January 2, 2012 Funeral service for Arther Olen Hightower, age 81, will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2012, in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Roy Mosier will officiate. Arther Olen Hightower was born the son of Charlie Venzie "Ben" Hightower and Anna Blanche Keef Hightower on April 17, 1930, in Amber. He died on January 2, 2012, in Chickasha. Olen graduated from Pocasset High School and attended Central State University in Edmond. He entered the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany as a military police officer. After being discharged, he returned to Chickasha and married Sonja Virginia Burns in 1955. He was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base serving in the reserves then transitioned to the FAA as an air traffic controller, retiring in 1979. Olen continued working after retirement for other companies such as Halliburton and Ryder. He eventually moved to Fort Smith, Ark. where he lived for nearly 30 years. Olen recently returned to Chickasha due to his health. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Blanche Hightower, sister, Winnie Pauline Dean, two sons, Stevie Joe Hightower and Baby Boy Hightower, and one daughter, Becky Cheryl Hightower. Survivors include: Son: Arther Olen "Pete" Hightower, Jr. of Rush Springs, Daughter & Husband: Donna Alene & Johnny Horton of Rush Springs, Son: Kevin Randall Hightower of Fort Smith, Ark., Daughter: Sandra Yvette Robinson of Chickasha, Uncle: Floyd Keef of Amber, 10 Grandchildren, Six Great Grandchildren, Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Other Family Members Interment will be in the Amber Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home. |
