"Pee Wee" Hastings, aged 88, of Amber, OK, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2005, in the Amber Cemetery. Rev. Roy Mosier will officiate with Jack Jerman and Rev. Johnny Wray assisting. J. W. Hastings was born the son of Amos Hastings and Rena Stephens Hastings on March 25, 1917 in Duncan, OK. He died November 8, 2005 in Chickasha. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home. W. "Pee Wee" Hastings, age 88, of Amber, OK, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2005, in the Amber Cemetery. Rev. Roy Mosier will officiate with Jack Jerman and Rev. Johnny Wray assisting. J. W. Hastings was born the son of Amos Hastings and Rena Stephens Hastings and Rena Stephens Hastings on March 25, 1917 in Duncan, OK. He died November 8, 2005 in Chickasha. On January 3, 1940, he married Winifred Bonner in Chickasha. They were married more than 60 years. J. W. moved to Amber in 1921 as a young boy. He graduated from Amber High School and then attended Oklahoma University for a short time. J. W. began farming with his father in his early years. He operated a grocery store and a restaurant in Amber for many years. J. W. also worked at the lumber yeard in Tuttle. For the past 50 years, he served as administrator/caretaker of the Amber Cemetery, while his wife served as the secretary of the Amber Community Cemetery Board. Their devotion to the cemetery led to the establishment of a trust which now provides for it's perpetual care. Hastings was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Winifred, and three sisters, Prebble McCalla, Lavon Hastings and Fern Tims. Survivors include sister Joy Cook of Chickasha and several nieces and nephews. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home. © The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma February 14, 2005 August 26, 1920 ~ February 12, 2005 Graveside service for Winifred Mae Hastings, age 84, of Amber, Oklahoma, was held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 14, 2005, in the Amber Cemetery. Winifred Hastings was born the daughter of William Bonner and Eljiva Phillips Bonner, on August 26, 1920, in Amber, Oklahoma. She died on February 12, 2005, in Chickasha. Winifred lived in Amber her entire life. She married J. W. Hastings on January 3, 1940, in Chickasha and they were married for sixty-five years. She worked at the county court house, Savings & Loan Association, U.S. Postal Department, and the Canadian Valley Technology Center. Winifred retired in 1977. She was a member of the Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Loraine Klopke. Survivors include her husband, J. W. Hastings of Amber. Service was under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to Amber Community Cemetery at P. O. Box 38, Amber, OK 73004. |
