Watkins Funeral services were held last Wednesday at the Brown Funeral Home in Chickasha for James L. Watkins who passed on Monday from his home at Ireton after a year of lingering illness. Mr. Watkins was born February 22, 1880, at Sherman, Texas, the son of William and Sarah Francis Watkins, both deceased. He came with his parents to Duncan when but a small child, and had been in this community since 1927. He was married to Miss Annie Allison at Addington, and ten of the eleven children born to them survive the father. Early in life Mr. Watkins became a member of the Church of Christ and ever remained faithful to its teachings. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, five daughters, Mrs. Jack Hurd, Huntington Beach, Cal., Mrs. Bill Pike, Richmond, Cal., Mrs. Jake Mutz, Oklahoma City, Mrs. Homer Spears, Oak Ridge, Mrs. Reford Bevill, Alex, and five sons, Percy, serving in the army at Fort Sill, and Lewis, James, Reginald and Reford, at home. Mr. Watkins was laid to rest in the Morris cemetery, southwest of town. |
