© Alex Tribune Alex, Oklahoma Friday, January 18, 1918 January 31 1876 ~ January 10, 1918 Death of Mrs. Truel Our little town was filled with sorrow when the word came that Mrs. Jennie L. Truel, wife of G. M. Truel, had passed away at her home 1 1/2 miles south of town last Thursday afternoon, after a short illness with pneumonia. Mrs. Truel had lived in the community for a number of years and was held in high esteem by her neighbors and friends. She was a member of the Methodist church and was identified with other movements for the uplift of the community, by which she will be missed. But her home, her husband and her children will miss her in every way and her place in their hearts will ever remain sacred, and time alone can wear away the keen edges of the pain that seems so sharp now. Her life work has been ended and the spirit has taken flight to another country where partings are no more. Mrs. Truel was born near Peoria, Ill., on January 31st, 1876. When a child she moved to Missouri. At the age of 19 she was united in marriage to G. M. Truel. To this union seven children were born, two of whom have preceded her to the grave. In January 1900 Mr. and Mrs. Truel moved to Oklahoma, where they have since resided. She leaves a husband and five children and many friends who mourn her early passing from their midst. The beautiful floral offerings and the large concourse of friends attending her last sad rites testify to the esteem in which she was held in the community. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church Sunday morning, conducted by the Rev. T. J. Durham and the body was laid to rest in the Laflin cemetery. |
