© Ferguson Funeral Home Chickasha, Oklahoma June 2021 June 9, 1939 ~ June 12, 2021 Graveside services for David Henry Tobey, 83, formerly of Chickasha, will be held in the Alex Cemetery. David Henry Tobey was born June 9, 1938 in Garvin County, Oklahoma to Roy Raymond Tobey and Edith Lorraine [Clark] Tobey. He died Saturday, June 12, 2021 in Oklahoma City. David grew up in Alex and graduated from Alex High School. He was in the United States Army Reserves for over 8 years. On October 23, 1962, he married Carol Jean Ayers and they had over 47 years together until her death in 2010. He and his wife were longtime members of Calvary Baptist Church. He was employed at J & W Grill for many years and the last ten years he was a co-owner. He then worked for Maremont, which later became Arvin Industries, retiring when he was 53 due to health reasons. David loved watching westerns. He was preceded in death by both parents, his wife Carol, brother Donald Tobey and grandson Bill Comer. Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law Carol "Denise" and Joseph Fogie of Alex, Dianna and Gary Smith of Lubbock, Texas and Chris Hoffman of Lubbock, Texas; nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren. Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. |
© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma June 21, 2010 Carol Jean [Ayres] Tobey July 5, 1941 ~ June 17, 2010 Funeral Services for Carol Jean Tobey, 68, of Chickasha, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 21, 2010, in the Ferguson Funeral Home with Chuck Patterson officiating. Carol Jean Tobey was born July 5, 1941, in Norge, Oklahoma, the daughter of William and Helen [Kilgore] Ayers. She died June 17, 2010, at her home in Chickasha. She grew up in Chickasha and graduated from Chickasha High School. Carol married the love of her life, David H. Tobey, on October 23, 1962, in Chickasha. They were blessed with three daughters: Denise, Dianna and Chris. She was employed with Want-A-Snack Vending, located inside Arvin Meritor, for over 20 years. Carol was a dedicated wife; she doted on her husband and enjoyed spending time with him, rather it be decorating the house, going antiquing, or just going out to breakfast or dinner. She was also a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother, who truly loved and valued her family. She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church. Carol was preceded in death by both parents; two brothers: Kenneth and James Ayers. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, David, of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law: Denise and Joe Fogie of Mustang, Oklahoma, Dianna and Gary Smith of Lubbock, Texas and Chris and Jeff Hoffman of Ogden, Utah; three sisters and brothers-in-law: Dorothy Brown, Colleen and Bob Burleson and Donna and Larry Shellender; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. Interment will be in the Alex Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. |
February1970 Donald James Tobey March 1, 1962 ~ February 25, 1970 A seven - year old boy became Grady County's first traffic fatality of 1970 when he was fatally injured about 8 a.m. in a car-bicycle accident on a county road two miles south of Chickasha. Donald James Tobey, seven was dead on Route 2, Chickasha, upon arrival at Grady Memorial Hospital. It was reported the boy's bicycle collided with a car driven by Donald Ray Bray, Route 2, Chickasha. Trooper Gene Fergason investigated the accident. Funeral services will be announced by Brown's Funeral Home. The boy was born March 1, 1962, in Chickasha. He was a student at Ninnekah public school. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Tobey; three sisters, Debbie, Darlene and Donna Marie, of the home; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Tobey of Ninnekah' his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Strong of Apache' and his paternal great grandmother, Mrs. Lottie Branch, Lindsay. |
