Joe Reese
? ~ August 22, 1917

Young Man Killed

A horrible accident occurred at the farm of John Wagoner six miles southwest of Alex, Wednesday afternoon, when Joe Reese was thrown from a wagon and his neck broken.

The young man, who was assisting in threshing broom corn was driving a hay wagon and team in the field when the team became frightened and commenced running and as the wagon went into a ditch he was thrown out and entangled in the lines. As the horses made a turn around at the fence, he was thrown against a fence and his neck broken and skull crushed. He never regained consciousness and died before medical aid could be obtained.

The funeral services were held at the Morris graveyard Thursday afternoon conducted by Rev. J. D. Kidd, pastor of the Methodist Church.
