Lee "Jack" Nolan passed on May 26 from a McAlester hospital where he had been receiving treatment for a heart attack suffered a few days before. He had been in failing health the past two years, spending much time in hospitals, however for the past several months he had appeared to be improving and had been with his parents at Coalgate for some time. Robert E. Lee Nolan was born December 6, 1907, near Alex, later moving with his parents to Coal County where they resided until 1921 when the family moved to Mercedes, Texas, returning to this community in 1927, where he has since resided except for the short time spent at Coalgate with his parents. On September 29, 1927, Robert was united in marriage to Miss Algie Rousey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Rousey of Alex. To this union four children were born. In 1930 Robert was converted and became a member of the Missionary Baptist church. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Baptist church here, Rev. N. N. Ivans speaking words of consolation to the sorrowing wife and parents, and burial was in the Morris cemetery, southeast of town. He leaves to mourn his untimely passing the widow, a daughter, Joyce, three sons, David Lee, James Robert and Jackie Dean, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Z. H. Nolan, two sisters, Mrs. H. H. Newberry of Chitwood and Mrs. J. D. McCurry of Coalgate and other relatives and friends. [Correction note: The obit shows the surname spelled "Nolan" but stones in cemetery show it as "Nolen".] |
