© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma Monday, December 28, 2009 Agnes Lucille [St. Romain] Merchant October 20, 1924 ~ December 24, 2009 Graveside services for Agnes Lucille Merchant, 85, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 30, 2009, in the Alex Cemetery, with Bob Craddock officiating. Lucille Merchant was born October 20, 1924, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the daughter of Joseph Bennie St. Romain and Louisa Bourg St. Romain. She died Thursday, December 24, 2009, in Chickasha. Lucille married Rayford A. Merchant on October 14, 1948, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Lucille and her family came to Lindsay, Oklahoma, in 1950. She had lived in Alex, before moving to Chickasha. She was a homemaker most of her life and had done ironing for many people in the Alex area. She had worked for Chickasha Laundry retiring in 1985 Lucille took great pride in her home and enjoyed working in the flower beds and gardening. She especially enjoyed watching her four o'clock bushes when the buds would begin to open and the humming birds would come to feed. She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband, one grandson, Kevin Boudreaux, one sister, Mabel St. Romain and three brothers, Adam, Roy and Leslie St. Romain. Lucille is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Nolan J. and Judy Boudreaux, of Guthrie, Wayne and Tammy Merchant, Roger and Carol Merchant, all of Chickasha; two sisters Rose Pickens and Shirley Thibodeaux, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. |
