Ganey C. "G. C." Jr McNeeley
May 19, 1919 ~ December 7, 1992


Funeral service for G. C. McNeeley, Jr, 73, of Alex, was held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, December 10, 1992, at the Alex High School Auditorium.

G. C. McNeeley, Jr, was born May 19, 1919, in Alex, Oklahoma, the son of G. C. and Mattie [Harper] McNeeley, Sr, and died Monday, December 7, 1992, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Mr. McNeeley was a life long resident of Alex.

He and Maxine Timberlake were married November 11, 1942, in Lindsay, Oklahoma.

Mr. McNeeley was manager of the Young Drug Store in Alex for 28 years. He later went to work for the Alex Lumber Company which he purchased in 1980. After he sold the lumber company he went to work for the Longview Waste Systems in Alex where he had worked for the past two years.

Mr. McNeeley served in the U. S. Army Infantry during World War II from 1942-45. He served in the European Theater. He received the Bronze Arrowhead for being in the First Wave Landing at Normandy, Omaha Beach. He was a member of the VFW Post 3608 in Blanchard and the Alex Masonic Lodge 457. He was a past member of the Oklahoma Lumbermans Association. Mr. McNeeley was a member of the United Methodist Church of Alex.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Virgie Barton and Pauline Hendricks.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine McNeeley of the home; one sister, Roberta Johnson of Alex; mother-in-law, Rachel Timberlake of Alex; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Interment was in the Alex Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

[Author's note: The McNeeleys were the best of neighbors to those who lived on their street during their many years as Alex residents.]

Billie Maxine [Timberlake] McNeeley
July 3, 1925 ~ May 16, 2010


CHICKASHA - Funeral service for Maxine McNeeley, 84, of Alex, Okla. will be at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at the Alex United Methodist Church.

Maxine McNeeley was born July 3, 1925 in Ninnekah, Oklahoma the daughter of David and Rachel [Martin] Timberlake. She died May 16, 2010 in Madill, Okla.

Maxine had lived in Grady County all of her life. She and G.C. McNeeley, Jr. were married November 11, 1942 in Lindsay, Okla.; he worked at Yount Drug Store in Alex and later owned the Alex Lumber Company with her husband. Maxine was a member of the Alex United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by: Husband: G.C. McNeeley, Jr. Dec. 7, 1992, Parents, and one brother: David Wayne Timberlake.

Survivors include one sister, Mary Easterday of Prescott, Ari., Several nieces and nephews, including Dave Lack and wife, Kathy of Kingston, Okla.; Sue Reynolds and husband, Bob, of Boulder City, Nevada.

Interment will be in the Alex Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
