McClendon, 85, of Ninnekah, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 23, 2010, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel. Orbie L. McClendon was born February 26, 1925, in Bray, Oklahoma the son of George and Mattie McClendon. He died March 17, 2010, at his home in Ninnekah. Orbie grew up and attended schools in Bray, Oklahoma. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on June 13, 1945. He served until August 26, 1945, when he was honorably discharged due to his eyesight. In October of 1945, Orbie married his wife of 65 years, Hazel (Weedn) McClendon. This union blessed them with three daughters: Sherry, Sandra, and Teresa. They made their home in Alex, Oklahoma until 1950, when they moved to Antioch California, where they resided for 25 years. They later lived in Atwater California for 3 years, and then returned to Oklahoma, making their home in Ninnekah where they have resided for the past 35 years. Orbie was a doting grandpa and his granddaughter, Maddy was his world. He enjoyed spoiling her, taking her on outings and just spending time with her. He also enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, and visiting with his friends He was preceded in death by both parents; two daughters: Sherry McClendon and Teresa McClendon; and six siblings. He leaves behind his daughter and son-in-law: Sandra and Bill Newlove of Brentwood, California; two granddaughters: Kimberly Murnane of Brentwood, California and Madilynn Jordan and her daddy, Newell Jordan and step-mother, Cathy Jordan, of Rush Springs; two sisters: Hester Whitehead of Marlow and Lillian Allison of ElPaso, Texas; three great grandchildren: Lindsey, Matthew and Katie Murnane; many nieces, nephews and much extended family. Interment will be in the Alex Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. |

McClendon, 83, of Ninnekah, will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 5, 2010, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel. Hazel F. McClendon was born May 22, 1927, in Tribbey, Oklahoma, the daughter of Cecil Weedn and Mattie Odessa Weeden. She died Monday, November 1, 2010, in Chickasha. She came to Alex, Oklahoma with her family as a small child where she attended Alex Public Schools and graduated from Alex High School. On October 3, 1945, Hazel married Orbie L. McClendon, her husband of sixty-five years. This union blessed them with three daughters: Sherry, Sandra and Teresa. They made their home in the Alex area until 1950, when they moved to Antioch, California, where they resided for twenty-five years. They later lived in Atwater, California for three years and then returned to Oklahoma, making their home in Ninnekah where they had resided for the past thirty-five years. Hazel is a member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and a past member of the Alex Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing and gardening and especially loved spending time with all her family. Hazel has been a resident of the Grace Living Center the past six and a half years, here in Chickasha. She was preceded in death by both parents; two daughters, Sherry McClendon and Teresa McClendon and her husband, Orbie McClendon. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Bill Newlove, of Brentwood, California; two granddaughters, Kimberly Murnane and her husband, David, of Brentwood, California and Madilynn Jordan, of Rush Springs, Oklahoma, and three great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Matthew and Katie Murnane, of Brentwood, California. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, November 4, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Alex Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. |
