Tribune Alex, Oklahoma Friday, June 22, 1934 April 22, 1864 ~ June 20, 1934 Pioneer Citizen Passes Early Wednesday - Mrs. Maggie Looney, 70, wife of John T. Looney, pioneer residents of Alex and this community, died in her sleep early Wednesday morning from a heart attack. Mrs. Looney was apparently in good health Tuesday, going about her appointed tasks in her cheerful manner. She retired at her usual hour and on Wednesday morning relatives discovered that she had passed on during the early morning. Maggie Minerva Hastings Looney was born near Dennison, Texas in 1864. She was married in 1882 to John T. Looney at Pottsburg, Texas. To this union were born two sons and one daughter. One son, Alva, died in January of this year, and the other son, Emmett, and the daughter, Mrs. O. A. Bevill, survive. Mr. and Mrs. Looney were among the earliest settlers in tis community, moving here from Holder, Oklahoma, in 1900. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock p.m. at the Methodist Church, Rev. Grady n. Ross officiating. The Simons Funeral Home at Rush Springs is in charge of arrangements. Interment in the Morris cemetery. |
