Emma Frances Henderson was born December 10, 1859 at Taladego, Ala., and died August ?? 1928, at Alex, Okla. Aged 69 years, 3 months and 13 days. She moved from Alabama to Texas with her parents, at 5 years of age and then about 16, settled at Tishomingo, old Indian Territory, and spent the remainder of her life in the southern part of the state, being truly a pioneer of this great state. She was a native Christian from childhood, being affiliated with the Methodist church. Her religion was lived in her home, as she was a great home loving person, however, she lent her services to her neighbors and friends whenever need occasioned. She was married August 20, 1878 [?] to John T. Jackson. To them was born ten children, six of whom are now living, as follows: Hattie, John and Ben of Alex; Mrs. S. A. Allen of Wilson; C. E. of Cordell and one grandchild, Lois Carroll Spruel of Rush Springs, was reared as a daughter since babyhood. The funeral services were held at the family home Friday afternoon, when Rev. H. P. Robertson spoke words of comfort over the silent form sleeping in the flower covered casket, from the old Book which had been her guide and consolation throughout her life, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Morris cemetery, south of Alex. The Tribune, with hosts of others, extends sympathy to the bereaved ones. |
