Era L. Harris was born January 22, 1911, and died on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004. Chickasha, Oklahoma October 12, 2004 January 22, 1911 ~ October 10, 2004 Funeral service for Era Lizzie Harris, age 93, of Alex, Oklahoma, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2004, in the Alex United Methodist Church. Rev. Rick Forthman will officiate, and Rev. Dan Brinkman will assist. Era Lizzie was born the daughter of Elijah Ardist Allen and Nora Frances Geddie Allen on January 22, 1911, in Grand Saline, Texas. She died on October 10, 2004, at her home in Alex. Era grew up in east Texas and moved to New Mexico in 1933, She married Travis Eustace Harris on January 8, 1935, in Roswell, New Mexico. They moved to Tatum, New Mexico, in 1950. In 1964, they moved to Colorado and returned to Tatum in 1967. She was a member of the Tatum United Methodist Church and had been a member of the board of directors of the Tatum Senior Citizens. Era and Travis moved to Alex in 1998 to be near their daughter. She was a member of the Alex United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, a twin sister, and one other sister. Survivors include: husband, Travis Harris, of the home; daughter, Shirley Taylor, of Alex; son and wife, Lloyd and Melba Harris, of Sweetwater, Texas; brother, Ethen Allen, of Rising Star, Texas; brother, Bill Allen, of Carlsbad, New Mexico; four grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren. Interment will be in the Alex Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home. |
