Herman Henry Oscar Graham
December 16, 1914 ~ June 1, 1941

Herman Graham Loses Life in Tractor Accident - Our community was saddened Sunday morning when word was received of the death of Herman Graham, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Graham, in a tractor accident near Criner, in McClain county, where he was employed on a farm. Herman had started to work Saturday morning, operating the tractor for Bodie Mitchell, and was engaged in planting corn.

On Sunday morning, not having completed the work, he returned to the field. He apparently made but one trip across the field when in turning around, the tractor wheels struck a depression hidden by overgrowing Johnson grass and overturned the machine.

It was apparent to Mr. Mitchell, who soon became aware of the accident, that a trip rope, used to actuate the planter, had whipped about the lad's neck, strangling him. The tractor was lying on its side, but had not hit the body.

Herman Henry Oscar Graham was born in Alex December 16, 1914, and had passed his 26th birthday on that date last.

He had lived here all his life except for one year on the west coast.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Monday afternoon, with Rev. N. N. Ivans speaking words of consolation to the sorrowing family.

Burial was in the Morris cemetery, south of town.

He leaves to mourn his passing the parents, four brothers, Lawrence, Lester, Troy and Rex, at home, and three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Snow of Lindsay and Florene and Emma Faye, of Alex.

Two brothers passed on while yet infants.

The sympathy of the entire community is with the family in their hour of sorrow.
