© Alex Tribune Alex, Oklahoma Friday, April 27, 2012 Anna Louise [Johnston] Gage April 7, 1917 ~ April 27, 2012 Funeral services will be held for Anna Louise Gage, 95, of Lindsay, at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 30, 2012, in the First Baptist Church in Lindsay, Oklahoma. Anna Louise Gage was born on April 7, 1917, in Ninnekah, Oklahoma, to Sterling Johnston and Kathryn Izora Bearden Johnston. She died on Friday, April 27, 2012, in Lindsay. Anna grew up on the family farm in Ninnekah and graduated from Ninnekah High School in 1934. Shortly after graduating, she married John Eugene Gage on June 23, 1934, in Chickasha. Anna and John started farming and raising a family. They ran a dairy farm for over 30 years. Church was very important to her and she was very active teaching Sunday School and helping with activities. Anna was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Alex for over 50 years and has been a member of the First Baptist Church in Lindsay since 1997. She was preceded in death by: both parents; husband, John Eugene Gage in December 1996; two brothers; five sisters; and one grandson, Rodney Marcum. Survivors include: one daughter, Kathy Marcum & husband Al of Lindsay; two sons, Buddy Gage & wife Kay of Alex and David Gage & wife Carron of Chickasha; one brother, Jodie Johnston & wife Teka of Moore; five grandchildren, Roy Marcum, Dwight Marcum, Dewayne Marcum, Jeremy Gage and Anji Langley; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Interment will be in the Alex Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. |
May 2019 John Reford Gage Gage March 23, 1918 ~ May 12, 2019 John Reford Gage, 101, of Alex, OK was born the son of John Henry Gage and Mary Alice Henley Gage on March 23, 1918 in Alex, OK. He died on May 12, 2019 at his home. Reford grew up in the Alex area and married his wife Ernesteen in El Reno in 1941. During WWII he served in the Army in the Aleutian Islands. After the war, he returned home to Alex were he worked for Mobile Oil while also farming and ranching. After 20 years with Mobile, he farmed and ranched full time. Reford was on the board of directors for Rural Electric Coop for many years. Reford was preceded in death by his wife Ernesteen Gage and his brother Leon Gage. Reford is survived by his children Janette and Johnnie Rogers of Alex, Paula and Fred Stafford of Duncan, Gary and Darla Gage of Alex; grandchildren Jill and Brian Stidham, Gretchen and Joe Miller, Brooke and Shane Evans, Kim and Kip Irving, and Lori Holt; and great-grandchildren Mason, Cason, Natalie, Mary, Emma, Griffin, Lily, Maddy and Gage. Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 24, 2019 at the Alex Cemetery. Rev. Ezell Nelson will officiate. Interment is in the Alex Cemetery. |
© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma Friday, July 3, 2010 Ernesteen Ruby [Cothran] Gage December 12, 1918 ~ June 29, 2010 Funeral service for Ernesteen Ruby Gage, age 91 of Alex, will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 2, 2010, in the Alex First Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Ayers officiating. Ernesteen was born the daughter of Ernest Wiley Cothran and Sadie Alice Williams Cothran on Dec. 12, 1918, in Teague, Texas. She died on June 29, 2010, at her home in Alex. Interment will be in the Alex Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home. |
