© Alex Tribune Alex, Oklahoma Friday, December 9, 1927 Rhoda Ardilla "Emma" [Ford] Freiley July 1, 1890 ~ December 1, 1927 Mother and Babe Rest In The Same Grave Mrs. Emma Frely wife of J. Frieley died at her home 1 1/2 miles west of Alex, Thursday at 8:30 o'clock after giving birth to a son, who also died and is buried with its mother. She was born in Wise county, Texas, 1890 and was married to J. W. Frieley at Lawton in 1908. To this union were born eight children four boys and four girls ??? one surviving their mother. She was converted at the age of ?3 years and united with the Free Will Baptist church, and continued a faithful member until about three years ago when she transferred her membership to the Missionary Baptist church. She was a true Christian as shown in her daily walk and utilized to its fullness by her family and neighbors especially during the last year of her life, when she suffered greatly much of the time when everything possible was done for her by skilled physicians and was under a nurse's care, but human care could not save her. She seemed to realize that her time on earth was short and made preparations to meet her savior. She is survived by her husband, 4 daughters and 3 sons, her mother, 7 brothers and 4 sisters. Her mother, 2 brothers and 1 sister were here for the funeral. The funeral services were held at the Missionary Baptist church ??day afternoon conducted by Rev. H. P. Robertson, pastor of the Methodist church, in the presence of a large crowd of relatives, neighbors and friends, and burial was made in the Morris cemetery east of Alex. Since the baby and his mother, Emma, are buried in the same grave, we will only post one memorial for them both. The obit is transcribed as found in the Alex Tribune, misspelled words and all. Also, a sliver of the left side of this obit was missing so while it could be pieced together on some sentences, it could not in some places where you see the "?" in the obit. |
