William Snowdon "Snody" Dallas
February 1, 1864 ~ May 7, 1940

W. S. Dallas was born in the State of Missouri on February 1, 1864, and departed this life at his home in Alex on May 7, at the age of 76 years, 3 months and six days. For several months preceding his demise he had been in gradually failing health and the end was not unexpected.

He reached manhood in Missouri, and was there married in St. Clara county, to Miss Mary Halford. Eight children were born to this union. The family came to Oklahoma soon after it became a state, and resided for many years near the northern line. In 1926 they came to this locality, living west of town until two years ago, when Mr. Dallas retired from active farming and moved to Alex.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Thursday afternoon, with Rev. N.N. Ivans pastor, conducting the rites. Interment was in the Morris cemetery, southeast of town.

Left to carry on without him are Mrs. Dallas, three sons, Tom of Troy, Albert of Caddo and John of Alex; three daughters, Mrs. Cliff Samples of Bennington, Mrs. Tom Johnson of Newport and Mrs. W. C. Howard of this community; forty-five grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and two brothers, Lawrence of Bakersfield, Cal., and John Dallas of Boulder, Texas.

Two daughters preceded him in death.

The pallbearers were Gladace Goyne, Ross Foster, W. A. Goyne, Lloyd Paddack, Ray Foster and Theo Wardlow.

Mrs. Mary Dallas passed on Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. D. Howard of the Harris community, after an illness of several weeks, which she bore with courage and infinite patience.

Early in life she united with the Christian church and remained a faithful member.

She was a kind and loving mother and will be missed by the children and her many friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Baptist church with Rev. Barr conducting the rites. Interment was in the Morris cemetery.

Left to mourn her loss are the daughters, Mrs. Rhoda Samples of Bennington, Mrs. Jettie Johnson of Graham and Mrs. W. D. Howard of this community, and three sons, Tom Dallas of Troy, Albert Dallas of Caddo, Colorado and John Dallas of Alex.
