Funeral services for Mary Alice Truel Chitwood, 101, of Alex, Okla., will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 7, 2004, at the Alex United Methodist Church.

Mary Alice Truel Chitwood was born January 10, 1903, and died on Saturday, May 1, 2004.

Burial will be in Alex Cemetery, Alex, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Funeral service for Mary Alice Truel Chitwood, 101, of Alex, Oklahoma, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 7, 2004, at the Alex United Methodist Church.

Mary Alice Truel Chitwood was born January 10, 1903, in Alex, Oklahoma, the daughter of Garland Mason and Jenny Lee [Anderson] Truel, and died May 1, 2004, in Camden, South Carolina.

Mrs. Chitwood grew up in Alex, Oklahoma. She had lived in various places, moving back to Alex in 1960. She had lived in Camden, South Carolina, for the past 5 years.

She and Walter Chitwood were married, and he preceded her in death in 1971.

Mrs. Chitwood was a member of the Alex United Methodist Church.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Garland Mason Chitwood, in 1947, and brothers, Frank, Perrin, Benjamin, Garland, and Neal Truel.

Survivors include two nephews that she raised from the ages of 2 and 4, Lee and Jane Truel of Camden, South Carolina, and Perrin and Margo Truel of Loveland, Colorado. Also nieces and nephews, John Truel and Marky Schnitz of Oklahoma City; Mary Johnson of Arnold, Missouri; Garland Truel of Washington, Michigan; Bob Truel and Jenny Straatmann of Union, Missouri; Phil Chitwood of Norman, Oklahoma; and Susan Andrews of Dallas, Texas.

Interment will be in the Alex Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
