Friday, October 5, 1934 Marion Randolph "Dolph" Cecil January 1, 1881 ~ September 30, 1934 Prominent Farmer Dies Sunday Night M. D. Cecil, 53, prominent farmer and leader in community activities, passed on at his home southeast of town at 10 o'clock Sunday night. Mr. Cecil had been under the care of physicians for the past few months, suffering from hemorrhages induced by a lung tumor. Although he had been able to attend to his many duties, the recurrent hemorrhages had so weakened him that the end was not entirely unexpected. Mr. Cecil was born in Jasper, Arkansas, January 1, 1881, the son of S. J. and Sarah Nixon Cecil. He was married May 6, 1906 at Oklahoma City to Miss Lydia Barrett, daughter of John and Eva Barrett. To them were born five sons and two daughters. In the earlier years Mr. Cecil followed the profession of photographer, later engaging in the business of farming at Asher for several years. About four years ago he purchased the farm here and has resided here since that time. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist church, Rev. Grady N. Ross conducting the services. Burial in the Morris cemetery. The following relatives survive his passing: the wife, Lydia Cecil, the sons, Sam, Roy, Jack, Troy, and Sydney, the daughters Maudie and Marie. One brother, Will Cecil, of Tuttle, and two sisters, Mrs. Harvey Sanders of Tuttle, and Mrs. Ollie Travis of Oklahoma City also survive. |
© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma 13 June 2003 Troy Neal Cecil February 12, 1921 ~ June 11, 1993 Funeral services for Troy Neal Cecil, 82, of Alex, Oklahoma, will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, June 14, 2003, at the United Methodist Church of Alex, Oklahoma. Troy Neal Cecil was born February 12, 1921, in Asher, Oklahoma, the son of Randolph Cecil and Lydia [Barrett] Cecil, and died Wednesday, June 11, 1993, in Oklahoma City. Mr. Cecil lived in the Alex community most of his life. He worked in the oil field and was a truck driver, but loved working on the farm and raising his family. He served in the U.S. Navy with the Seabees during World War II. Mr. Cecil was a member of the Alex United Methodist Church and the Alex Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Cecil, on November 1, 1999. Survivors include: 3 sons: David and Donna Cecil of Mustang, Oklahoma, Chris and Susan Cecil of Chickasha, Oklahoma, Sid and Gina Cecil of Cypress, Texas; 3 daughters: Cheryl and Rex Shelton of Winfield, Kansas, Carole Cecil Klontz of Porter, Texas, Linda Cecil of Wynnewood, Oklahoma; 2 brothers: Sidney Cecil of Grants Pass, Oregon, Jack Cecil of Kilgore, Texas; 1 sister: Marie Foster of Chickasha; 11 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild. Interment will be in the Alex Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. |

Larry Cecil was born January 1, 1957 to George H. Cecil Sr. and and Barbara F. St. Pierre in Salina, CA. He passed away on June 2, 2011 in Chickasha. Larry's hobbies included fishing, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. Larry had a very strong work ethic and taught his children and grandchildren the importance of being a hard worker, a honest individual and to always make the best of their life and the importance of family. Larry was the center stone of his family, best friend, gentle, unconditional, Paw Paw, giving, helpful, God fearing, are a few of the words his family uses to describe him. For a man who came into the world with a heart defect, he always loved whole heartedly and unconditionally. His heart was bigger and stronger than most. You are missed, not forgotten and loved then, now and through eternity. It was Larry's wishes if anyone would like to make a donation in his name please feel free to do so. Larry supported St. Jude's. Interment will be in the Alex Cemetery, Alex, OK under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. |
