Old Settler Passes Away After Long Sickness

Mr. Benjamin Calar passed away at 11:25 o'clock Monday night, November 26th, 1923, at the home of his son-in-law, W. C. Adams, at the ripe old age of 82 years.

He was born near Paducah, Ky. but came to the Indian Territory in an early day and had witnessed the many great changes through which the state passed up to the present time and had a part in its development.

For many years he lived at Purcell. With his wife he came to Alex in February of the present year and in April he suffered a stroke of paralysis and had been an invalid since.

He had been a member of the Free Will Baptist Church for many years.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. W. C. Adam of Alex, Mrs. Joe Burrcus of Criner, and two sons, Chas. and Cal, who live in Colorado.

Funeral services were held at Bradley, Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. L. R. Jones, pastor of the Methodist church, and burial was made in the cemetery at Bradley.
