© The Chickasha Express Star Chickasha, Oklahoma October 22, 2010 Lois [Cantrell] Black Brashears September 27, 1923 ~ October 19, 2010 Funeral service for Lois Black Brashears, age 87 of Tulsa, formerly of Alex, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2010, in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Dennis Clark will officiate. Lois was born the daughter of Floyd Cantrell and Ella Gertrude Byrum Cantrell on September 27, 1923, in Agawam. She died on October 19, 2010, in Tulsa. Lois grew up in Agawam, south of Chickasha. She married Cecil Black and lived in Las Cruces, New Mexico area for a short time. During World War II, they moved to California where they spent most of their working years. After retiring, they moved back to Oklahoma to the Alex area. After the death of her husband, she later married Troy Brashears. They lived in the Alex area until Troy's death in 2001. Lois then moved to Tulsa to be close to her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Gertrude Cantrell; husbands, Cecil Black and Troy Brashears; sister, Jean Sanders; three brothers, Vern, Carl and Leon Cantrell; niece, Beverly James. Survivors: son and wife: Donnie & Barbara Ann Black, granddaughters: Angela & Candice, sister-in-law: Emma Cantrell, numerous nieces and nephews, step-grandson: Mike Brashears. Interment will be in the Alex Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home, Chickasha. |
