© Wilson-Little Funeral Home Purcell, Oklahoma Monday, October 22, 2012 Wesley Luther "Buddy" Baker November 20, 1932 ~ October 22, 2012 Wesley "Buddy" Luther Baker age 79 of Alex, OK, passed away Monday, October 22, 2012 at his home in Alex. He was born on November 20, 1932 in Newcastle, OK. He was the 3rd child of 8 children born to Charlie Wesley Baker and Johnnie Lucille [Allen] Baker. Buddy grew up a farm boy in the Newcastle community. He attended Newcastle H. S. and graduated with the class of 1952. While in H.S. he met the love of his life, Eddie Bee Russell. She was a young lady who grew up in Rosedale, OK and transferred to Newcastle H.S. her junior year. Buddy and Eddie were married on June 21, 1952 in Oklahoma City. Together they lived in OKC for the next 43 years where they raised six children and he was a member of the Sherwood Baptist Church. Buddy worked for nearly 35 years as a warehouseman for TG&Y. He also operated firework stands for nearly 30 years in Tuttle, Minco and other towns. He loved being in the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to stock car races and playing softball in an industrial league for many years. In 1995 Buddy and Eddie moved to Alex, OK and attended the First Baptist Church of Bradley. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by: Parents: Charlie and Johnnie Baker 4 sisters: Ruth Jones, Shirley James, Mattie Howard and Sherri Holden 2 Brothers: Robert and James Baker. He is survived by: Wife: Eddie Baker of the home in Alex Six children: 4 sons: Wes Baker and wife Patty of Alex John Baker and wife Lynny of Minco Darrell Baker and wife Karen of Moore Alan Baker and wife Stacy of Yukon 2 daughters: Kay Honeycutt and husband Tom of Blanchard Mary McCornack and husband Chuck of Blanchard 1 brother: Don Baker and wife Tammy of Alex 1 sister-in-law: Jan Baker of Alex 19 grandchildren, Brandon & Ashli Baker, Shannon & Chad Rimer, Jennifer Palesano, Robbie Dawes, Emily & Bennie Harris, Eric Baker, Daniel & Leslee Baker, Eli & Alena Honeycutt, Ben & Meghan Honeycutt, Whitney & Jerod Waggoner, Darra & Justin Steely, Aren & Cody Easom, John Baker, Jeremiah & Rachel Johnson, Chuck & Janell McCornack, Aubyn & Aaron Cruz, Anthony & Julie McCornack, Luke & Mary Baker and David & Erin Baker; 27 great grandchildren; Many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services are 1:30 PM Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Newcastle. Interment will be at 4 PM at the Alex Cemetery. Arrangements by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Newcastle. © Chickasha Express~Star Chickasha, Oklahoma March 2011 Darlene [Beckerdite] Baker March 29, 1938 ~ March 17, 2011 Funeral service for Darlene Baker, age 72 of Alex, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 21, 2011, at the Alex Southern Baptist Chapel. Rev. Don Chaffin will officiate. Darlene was born the daughter of Ernest Beckerdite and Dolly Rhyan Beckerdite on March 29, 1938 in Jones, Oklahoma. She died on March 17, 2011 at her home in Alex. She married Kenneth J. R. Baker on July 1, 1959 in Midwest City, Oklahoma and they have enjoyed over 51 wonderful years of marriage. Darlene was a fifty year fan of Alex School activities and loved anything the Alex Longhorns did. While her children were in school, she was a 4-H mom. Darlene returned to school later in life and was the Canadian Valley Career Tech student of the year. She was an active member of the Alex Southern Baptist Chapel until recent years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Dolly Beckerdite; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Arthur and Irene Baker; two sisters and one brother. Interment will be in the Alex Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home. |
