Mary Lee [Smith] Ashford
June 25, 1927 ~


Funeral for Mary Lee Ashford will be at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, July 5, 2003, in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home.

Mary Lee Ashford was born June 25, 1927, in Lindsay, Oklahoma, the daughter of Leroy Jackson and Mary Catherine (Whitford) Smith, and died Thursday, July 3, 2003, in Chickasha.

Mrs. Ashford graduated from Alex High School. She and Leon Ashford were married October 1, 1944, in Anadarko, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Ashford enjoyed oil painting, ceramics, needlepoint and photography.

She was a member of the Tabler Gospel Tabernacle.

Mrs. Ashford was preceded in death by: parents, 1 brother: Leroy Smith, sisters: Thelma Francis Wilkins, Iva Ethel Adams.

Survivors include: husband: Leon Ashford of the home; 3 daughters and their husbands: Gail and Wayne Stevens, Amarillo, Texas, Kathy and George Dowell of Poteau, Oklahoma, Dena and Darrin Chambers of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania; 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren.

Interment will be in the Alex Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
