March 10, 2009 James Preston Cochran February 24, 1938 ~ March 9, 2009 Services for James Preston Cochran, 71, Ada, are 2 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church of Ada. Dr. George Warren is officiating. Burial follows at Whitebead Cemetery, Pauls Valley. Mr. Cochran died March 9, 2009, at Ada. He was born February 24, 1938, in Pauls Valley to Ray Preston Cochran and Mary Elizabeth Williams Cochran. He was raised in Pauls Valley and graduated from Pauls Valley High School. He furthered his education by attending college and graduated with a degree in business. He worked for Kerr-McGee for 30 years in Wynnewood and 12 years in Corpus Christi, Texas, until retiring in 1995. After his retirement he returned to Oklahoma and has lived in Ada since 2001 and was a member of the Ada First United Methodist Church. He was a member of Kiwanis Club, the Salvation Army Auxiliary and Boys and Girls Clubs, Inc. Mr. Cochran married Mary Howard on June 2, 1962, in the First Christian Church of Pauls Valley. He was preceded in death by his father, Ray P. Cochran; his mother, Mary E. Cochran; an infant brother, Howard and a sister, Judith. Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Cochran, of the home; their son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Karen Cochran, Francis; and daughter, Andrea Cochran, Ada; one brother, Fred E. Cochran, Pauls Valley; three sisters, Betty Miller, Stillwater; Evelyn Riedt, Amarillo, Texas; and Janice Dulin, Glenpool; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. |
© Stufflebean~Coffey Funeral Home Pauls Valley, Oklahoma Mary Louise [Howard] Cochran December 18, 1934 ~ March 19, 2015 Mary Louise Cochran, of Ada, passed away March 19, 2015 in Ada, Oklahoma at the age of 80 years. Mary was born December 18, 1934 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma to Paul and Louise [Nichols] Howard. She attended Wynnewood Schools and graduated from the Wynnewood High School where she was Valedictorian. After graduation she worked at the Wynnewood 1st National Bank and went on to attend the St. Anthony Catholic School of Nursing in Oklahoma City. Following her training she worked many years at the Pauls Valley State School, now S. O. R. C.. On June 2, 1962 she and James Preston Cochran were married in Pauls Valley. She later worked at C. R. Anthony's and then with her husband in their flower shop in Wynnewood. Mary was an avid gardener. After retiring they moved to Ada and were members of the Ada First United Methodist Church. Surviving family include her son and daughter in law, Greg and Karen Cochran, and daughter, Andrea Cochran, all of Ada; three sisters, Susie Wimberly of Wynnewood, Betty Howard of Maysville, and Sarah O'Connor of Tulsa; one brother, Paul Howard of Pauls Valley; six grandchildren, Britni Loyd, John David Loyd, Brad Cochran and his wife, Stephanie, Ashleigh Gonzalez and her husband, Tony, Kristi Hood and her husband, Kevin, and Kenton Tyler and his fiancé, Elyssa Slaughter; 10 great grandchildren, and one more on the way. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 23, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Stufflebean-Coffey Chapel of Remembrance. Private interment will be at Whitebead Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home. |

Cochran, of Pauls Valley, passed away April 20, 2014 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 74 years. Fred was born September 21, 1939 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Ray Preston and Mary Elizabeth [Williams] Cochran. He was raised in Pauls Valley, and was a Boy Scout and earned the honor of Eagle Scout. He attended Pauls Valley Schools and is a graduate from Pauls Valley High School. After high school he joined the United States Army and is a Veteran of the Korean War On August 22, 1964 he and Gwendolyn Sue Simmons were married in Pauls Valley. They had one daughter Paula Sue [Cochran] Williams. Fred worked for 33 years for the Southern Oklahoma Resource Center, until his retirement. Pauls Valley has been his home all of his life where he enjoyed farming, camping, arrowhead hunting and making the garage sales, and just being outdoors. His grandson, Treston, was his pride and joy. Fred would listen on the radio to Treston's ball games in which he was playing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray P. and Mary E. Cochran; his wife of 44 years Gwendolyn Sue [Simmons] Cochran; two brothers, Howard Cochran, as an infant and James Preston Cochran; two sisters, Judith Cochran and Betty Miller. Surviving family include his daughter and her husband, Paula and Tim Williams; a grandson, Treston Ray Williams, all of Pauls Valley; two sisters and their husbands, Evelyn and Harvest Riedt of Amarillo, Texas; and Janice and Joe Dulin of Glenpool, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Mary Cochran of Ada; and brother-in-law, Merl Miller of Stillwater, Oklahoma; brother and sister-in-laws, Bobby and Phillis Simmons of Shawnee, Oklahoma; Fred and Mary Lou Simmons of Elmore City, Oklahoma; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Stufflebean-Coffey Chapel of Remembrance officiated by Rev. Peggy D. Farris. Interment will be at the Whitebead Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home. |
