Mary Montana "Montie" [Denson] Winn
March 16, 1923 ~ April 3, 2013

Funeral Service for Mary Winn was held at 2:30 P.M., Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the Church of Christ in Lindsay. Arrangements were under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home in Blanchard.

Mary Montana "Montie" Winn was born March 16, 1923 in Ridge, Montana to Thomas Ivy and Zettie Cleo [Moore] Denson. She died peacefully in her sleep in Oklahoma City and concluded her earthly walk on April 3, 2013, just a couple of weeks after her 90th birthday.

Montie was a devout follower of Jesus Christ, beloved wife of one man, dedicated mother of eight children, and loving grandmother of 26 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren.

She was a devoted Christian observing her faith in daily activities of service to others and as a member of the Church of Christ. Though she worked at many jobs, from healthcare to sewing factory to dorm mom, she was always most readily identified, not by her occupation but by her relationship to her family.

She and Edgar Winn were married on August 23, 1941, and remained an adoring, faithful and steadfast partner until his death in 1982. She nurtured, nursed, carried to church, encouraged, fretted over, and, with varying effect, corrected, her eight children from the birth of eldest son Ed in 1942 literally until she drew her last breath. And she loved, bragged on, prayed for and expressed consistent wonder about the unique talents and personalities of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Edgar Winn and wife, Nancy, of Oklahoma City, Montie Louise Johnson and husband, Floyd, of Shreveport, Louisiana, Janet Gay Arter and husband, Wesley, of Lindsay, Thomas Leonard Winn and wife, Melody, of Shawnee, Mary Carol Ferguson of Oklahoma City, Larry Winn and wife, Barbara, of Lindsay and Terry Winn and wife, Tina, of Edmond; grandchildren, Eddie Winn, Jennifer Harjo, Julie Winn, Jill Kliewer, Tracy Thurman, Thomas Johnson, Darryl Arter, Neil Arter, Jimmy Arter, Malisa Langdon, Tara Fritsch, Tamara Morrison, Amy Winn, Scott Hodges, Kelli Plumb, Kaci Johnson, Katherine Ferguson, Rachel Gutzmer, Billy Winn, Tabitha Barnes, Garland Winn, Michael Winn, Brandon Winn, Kennedy Winn and Meredith Winn; 40 great grandchildren; brothers, Max Denson of Lakeland, Florida and Rex Denson of Garden Grove, California; numerous other nephews, nieces and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Abner Winn; son, Keith Wade Winn; granddaughter, Laura Baker; grandson, Bradon Gaskill; brother, Thomas Ivy Denson; sisters, Mazie Whitt, Bea Chandler, Bobbie White, Oleta White, and Audie Hayes.
