July 2018 Orlis Charles "Charlie" Orr March 19, 1921 ~ March 10, 2014 Charles Orlis Orr of Lindsay was born on March 19, 1921 at Story, Oklahoma to Charles and Minnie [White] Orr. He passed away on Monday, March 10, 2014 in Lindsay, Oklahoma at the age of 92 years. Charles grew up in the Story area and attended school there and at Maysville where he played basketball. He served his country as a Merchant Marine in the Galveston area during World War II. Charles married Judy Barnes on March 19, 1946 in Gainesville, Texas and he enjoyed being with his wife in all that he did. He was employed in the oilfield working overseas for Kerr-McGee. In 1986 he moved back to Story from Florida. Charles enjoyed going to the Senior Citizens dances and fishing with his son-in-law. He was a member of the Lindsay American Legion and the Lindsay's Elk's Lodge. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his daughter Linda Rutledge and husband J.C. of Lindsay. Step-daughter, Pat Bowman. Brother, Paul Ray Orr of Graceville, Florida. Sisters: Dorothy Brown of Port St. Lucie, Florida; and Carolyn Sue Ramsey of Maysville. 5 grandchildren: Angel Michelle Hughes and husband Gordon; Crystal Dawn Carroll and husband Scottie; John Charles (Jake) Rutledge and wife Melissa; David Anthony Bowman and wife Judy; and James Paul Bowman. 11 great grandchildren: Kyle Hughes, Rae'Anna Hughes, Hae'ly Hughes, Kylee Carroll, Fallon Bagley, Maddie Carroll, Delaney Rutledge, Kinzie Rutledge, Tobee Bowman, Codee Bowman, and Rachael Bowman. And many other family members and friends. Charles was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Minnie Orr; his wife Judy in 2001; a daughter Delores Ann; brothers: Roy Elden Orr and S. J. Orr; and sisters Georgia Brown and Jo Orr. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, March 21, 2014 at the Erin Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Clay Hicks officiating.
