Lorene [Owens] Whitaker
August 24, 1922 ~ December 8, 2003


Lorene Whitaker, of Pauls Valley, passed away Monday, December 8, 2003 at Pauls Valley General Hospital in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at 81 years of age. She was born August 24, 1922 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Clifford and Iva Mitchell Owens.

Lorene married Thomas Vaughn Whitaker on November 2, 1946 in Pauls Valley and had lived in Pauls Valley all of her life. She was a member of Paul & Pine Church of Christ. She worked as a nurse's aid at the Pauls Valley State School for 17 years.

She was preceded in death by 1 sister, Ruby and 2 brothers, Bill & Clifford Owens, Jr.

Survived by her husband, Vaughn, of the home; 5 children, James Whitaker of Pauls Valley; Raymond Whitaker of Norman; Mike Whitaker of Pauls Valley; Gary Whitaker of Chickasha; Marilyn Poyner of Pauls Valley; brother, Jerry Owens of Pauls Valley; 4 sisters, Hazel Whitaker of Lexington; Viola Watson of Pauls Valley; Doris Rhodes of Pauls Valley; Mary Chronister of Wynnewood; 9 grandchildren, and 2 great grandsons.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at 10:00 AM at the Paoli Cemetery, officiated by Roy Shave. Interment will be at the Paoli Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
